MOUNT CARROLL, Ill. — Edward "Ed" Traum, loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Uncle, passed into heaven Friday, April 18, 2014, at the age of 70, with the loving care of his family, at home in Mt. Carroll. He enjoyed celebrating 47 years of marriage to his wife, Sheri.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mt. Carroll with Pastor Teri Lafferty officiating. Burial will be at Lanark Cemetery, Lanark, Illinois. A visitation will be held 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the Funeral Home. Ed was born June 20, 1943 at home in Lanark, Illinois, the son of Robert and Dorothy (Fast) Traum. He was a member of the Mt. Carroll High School class of 1962. Ed and Sheri were married on October 16, 1966 at the Mt. Carroll United Methodist Church.

After high school, Ed drove a milk truck for Kenny Rekenthaler. He then worked for Chadwick Cheese Co. and later worked for Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. for 30 years, retiring in 2003. At Kelly-Springfield he was affectionately known as "Fast Eddie."

He and his wife Sheri also owned and operated Traum's Laundromat and Car Wash in Mt. Carroll from 1976 to 1981. After retirement, Ed worked at Manny's Frozen Pizza for eleven years.

He was an active participant at the Mt. Carroll United Methodist Church. Ed loved his Church and Church family, especially helping at the Mayfest Pancake Breakfast and the Annual Methodist Turkey Supper, always serving turkey with friend Dick DeMoss. He was a former member of the Mt. Carroll Lions Club.

Ed's favorite pastimes include fishing, although according to Sheri, "he never caught anything." He also enjoyed collecting model trains and coins. Most important to Ed was attending family events like the grandchildren's ball games and music contests. His favorite car was his 1977 El Camino and favorite companion was his dog, Pixie.

Ed will be dearly missed by his wife, Sheri Traum, of Mt. Carroll; three daughters, Laurie (Bill) Hawk of Mt. Carroll, Marcie (Kurt) Arno of Mt. Carroll, and Stacie (Josh) Kemp of Franklin, Wisconsin; three grandchildren, Brianna, Riley and Ellie; a granddaughter expected in July; one sister, Shirley (Larry) Bower of Monroe, Wisconsin; special nieces, Brittany Sipe of Lake Summerset and Chelsey Sipe of Mt. Carroll; and many other nieces and nephews.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, John and Phyllis Miller; sister-in-law, Carol Miller; and nephew, Shawn Miller.
