WINDSOR HEIGHTS — Robert Tingleff, 88, of Windsor Heights, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2014. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. followed by a rosary on Wednesday, April 30 at Iles Westover Chapel in Des Moines. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Theresa Catholic Church, in Des Moines at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2014. Graveside services will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Boniface Cemetery in Clinton.
Robert was born on August 16, 1925 to Harold and Eola (Farley) Tingleff in Clinton. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1943 and joined the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the June Van Meter American Legion Post No. 190 in Clinton for over 60 years as well as the Knights of Columbus.
Robert married Madonna Nelson on September 3, 1951; together they had five children: Robert, Jr., Catherine, Barry (wife, Paula), Cheryl, and Brian (wife, Susan). He is survived by his wife, and four children, along with three grandchildren, Kathleen, Patrick and Sarah, and two step-grandchildren, Erica and Keith Mitnik. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Jr. “Robby”, his parents, and only sibling, Jayne Evans.
