MAQUOKETA — Viola E. (Reuter) Weimerskirch, 82, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away Friday, May 9, 2014 surrounded by her family at Finley Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa.

A funeral Mass celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, May 13th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa. Friends and family may call on Monday, May 12th, 2014 from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. with the Rosary being recited by the Catholic Daughters at 7:00 p.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa. Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery following the funeral service.

Viola was born on November 17th, 1931, in Clinton County, Iowa, to parents William and Catherine (Diedrich) Reuter. She married Russell Weimerskirch on April 3rd, 1951 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Sugar Creek, Iowa.

She and her husband farmed, retiring in 1994. Viola was a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Raphael 1156 of Maquoketa, Iowa. She enjoyed playing bingo at nursing homes and Meals on Wheels, playing cards and also loved bus tours and spending time with family.

Viola is survived by a daughter, Sandra (Ron) Trenkamp of Spragueville, Iowa and five sons, Dennis of Spragueville, Iowa, Gary of Spragueville, Iowa, Kevin (Beth) of Flower Mount, Texas, Keith (Lori) of Maquoketa, Iowa and Jeff (Yvonne) of Spragueville, Iowa; her sisters, Madonna Heister, Pat McMclure and her brother Jerome (Carol) Reuter; sister-in-law Pearl Smith, and eleven grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Viola was preceded in death by her father, William and mother Catherine and step-mother, Livwina, husband, infant daughter, sisters; Irene Trenkamp, Mary Ann Koop, and Bernadette Yoeger, brother, Francis Reuter, brother-in-laws; Sylvester Roling and Daniel Heister.

Memorials are preferred.
