CLINTON — Robert Leroy Bray, age 70, of Clinton, Iowa, died Saturday, May 31st, 2014, at the West Wing Nursing Home, DeWitt, Iowa, after a short fight against cancer.
A memorial gathering of friends and family will be held at Gils Ballroom on Thursday, June 12th, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Bring your favorite stories to share.
Bob was born in Lebanon, MO, on June 25, 1943, to Robert & Lois Bray. Bob was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served as a Military Policeman in Saigon, and earned several medals for his service. The discipline and patriotism he learned during his service never left him, and he joined the police force upon his honorable discharge from the Army.
His later work included the Chicago Northwestern Railroad and as a semi-driver for National By-Products.
He loved fishing, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed bowling at the Plaza Lanes, where he was a member of the 700 club.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sandy, his sons, Richard Bray, Mark (Renae) VanZuiden, Anthony Bray, Steven Bray, daughter Lynda VanZuiden, brothers Rick (Amy) Bray, Randy Bray, Roger (Michelle) Bray, Robbie Bray, and grandchildren Ashley Bray, Keifer Bray, Taylor VanZuiden, and Seth VanZuiden.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Greg VanZuiden.
