CLINTON — Joye M. Mueller, age 67, of Clinton, passed away Monday, July 8, 2013 at Mercy Living Center North.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Visitation will from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Pape Funeral Home and from 10:00 a.m. until at the service time Friday at the church. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery.
Joye, Clinton’s Christmas baby, was born on December 25, 1945, the daughter of Paul and Avis (Olson) Schember, Sr. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1963 and received her degree in Education from Wartburg College, in Waverly, Iowa.
Joye married John Mueller on June 11, 1966 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Her first year of teaching was with the Fulton Middle School.
Joye substituted for the Clinton School System for several years while raising her family. She taught English at Camanche High School for 24 years, also working with the Speech and Drama Club and the National Honor Society.
Joye was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving with Eventide and Altar Guild, and teaching Sunday and Midweek School. She was a member of an antique club and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, reading, boating and traveling, especially recalling memories of her England and Ireland trip with her daughters.
Joye is survived by her husband John; two daughters, Paula Mueller of Fairfax, VA and Tricia (Garrick) Lankford of Elkhart, IN; a son, Jay (Margie) Mueller of Fulton; a daughter-in-law, Denise Mueller of Bristol, IN; eight grandchildren; her father, Paul Schember, Sr. of Farmville, VA and twin brothers, Paul (Bette) Schember, Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA and Michael (Sarah) Schember of Farmville, VA.
She was preceded in death by her mother and a son, Greg.
