---- — CAMANCHE — Evelyn E. Hellweg, 90, of Camanche, passed away, Friday, August 16, 2013 at her home.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 19, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church - Camanche. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to the service time Monday at the church. Serving as pallbearers will be Sean Hellweg, Aaron Hellweg, Eric Hellweg, Gary Jackson, Scott Goble, and Bill Goble. Following the services the body will be cremated. Private family burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. The Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Evelyn Eileen Mangelsen was born on July 3, 1923 in Lyons, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Catherine (Sellnau) Mangelsen. She was baptized and later confirmed in 1937 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Clinton. She attended Lyons schools. She married Gustav “Gus” Hellweg on August 20, 1940 in Clinton; he preceded her in death on August 14, 1995.
Evelyn was a homemaker; she also worked at Rich’s Toy Factory and ABC Cleaners.
Evelyn was a charter member of Immanuel Lutheran Church – Camanche and a member of the Clinton Moose Lodge Auxiliary.
Evelyn is survived by five daughters: Donna (Gary) Jackson of Camanche, Shirley (Marv) Goble of Mesa, Arizona, Connie (Jim) Bower of Camanche, Bonnie Greenwood of Prophetstown, Illinois, and Kathy (Nathan) Vanderslice of Champaign, Illinois, three sons: Ronald (Barb) Hellweg of Maquoketa, Donald Hellweg of Fulton, and Charles Hellweg of Camanche; numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; her sister: Esther Cummings of Newburgh, Oregon; and two sister-in-laws: Doris Hellweg of Clinton and Elva (Alvin) Thompson of Camanche.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five sisters, and four brothers.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church – Camanche.
