CLINTON — Jean Yahn-Lampe, 91, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Mercy North, Clinton.
A celebration of Jean’s life will be held, Monday, August 26, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until concluding with a prayer at 2:00 p.m. at the Clinton Chapel, Snell-Zornig Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will take place at a later date at the Pennington Cemetery, Sigourney, Iowa.
Jean Hayes was born September 2, 1921 in Keokuk, County, Iowa, the daughter of Don and Ethel (Hollingsworth) Hayes. She married Herman Aaron Yahn on May 19, 1940 in Lancaster, MO; he passed away August 28, 1986. She married Fred Loyal Lampe on October 27, 1994 in Clinton; he passed away March 9, 2010.
Jean was a very avid walker, at the age of 72 she hiked the Picacho Trail in Arizona and the Grand Canyon.
She was very active with the Chancy Lutheran Church Meal Site and was a blood donor with the American Red Cross.
Survivors include her sons, Robert W. (Mary) Yahn of Mesa, AZ; Donald H. (Kathy Kilburg) Yahn of Clinton; John J. (Lesli) Yahn of Clinton and James W. (Karla) Yahn of Clinton; Ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brothers, Wade Hayes of Wellman, IA and Donald (Linda) Hayes of Arizona and sister, Nellie Scalf of Wellman, IA.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, a brother and a sister.
