CLINTON — David G. Guthrie, 78 of Clinton, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, at the Church of the Open Door, Clinton. Visitation will be held 10 a.m. until the service hour at the church. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Miguel Dondiego, Richard Mess, Isaiah Clark, Levi Clark, Jason Zigler, and Alex Zacholski. Memorials may be given to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa. David was born on Dec. 24, 1934 in Bellwood, IL, the son of Nelson and Helen (Miller) Guthrie. He married Bettie Pruett on Aug. 20, 1955 in Blue Mound, Ill. David worked at the former Clinton Corn Processing, owner/operator of G&M Industrial Supply, and the last 13 years at Wal-Mart. He was a member of the Church of the Open Door, and collected “Cook Books”, and enjoyed gardening.
David is survived by his wife, Bettie of Clinton; five children, Scott (Dana Weckesser) Guthrie of Baltimore, Md., Kristi Clark of Fulton, Ill., Kellie (Richard) Mess of Clinton, Kerrie (Mark Reiland) Kramer of Clinton, and Kimberly (Miguel) Dondiego of Clinton; 13 grandchildren, Summer, Charity, Isaiah, Trinity, Levi, Morgan, Mackenzie, Leslie, Madison, Cameron, Isabella, Whitney, and Katelin; five great grandchildren, Kaylee, Alex, Austin, Ezekiel, and Henry; two brothers, Craig (Eileen) Guthrie of Elk Horn, WI and James Guthrie of Bloomingdale, IL; and a sister, Evaline Heap of Leroy, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren, Sean and Lauren, and a sister, Patricia.
