CLINTON — Marian Koop, 83, of Clinton, Iowa passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at The Alvemo in Clinton. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 16, 2013 at Chancy Lutheran Church in Clinton. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at The Clinton Chapel, Snell Zornig Funeral Home. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tammy Lampe, August and Emily Burmeister, Claire Butz, Dick Wandler, and Ralph Remour.
Marian was born December 27, 1929 on the family farm east of Andover, Iowa. She was the daughter of Alvin and Emma (Mohr) Huebner. She was educated in The Almont County School and was a 1948 graduate of Lyons High School. She married Jack Koop on October 11, 2001 in
She was a homemaker and was employed in various jobs for several years working at the Camanche grocery store, Woolworth’s, and cleaning at Camanche City Hall. She also cleaned at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Camanche where she taught Sunday School for fifteen years.
Marian was a member of Chancy Lutheran Church and formerly was an active member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church where she was an usher, lector and member of the Fellowship Committee. She also was a volunteer at the Camanche Meal Site where she had enjoyed dancing on Tuesday mornings and playing cards with the ladies.
Her great grandchildren were very special to her. Marian also enjoyed cross stitch and needlework, puzzle books, going on day trip bus tours, and attending plays at Clinton’s Showboat Theater and Timber Lake Playhouse in Mt. Carroll.
Survivors include her husband Jack Koop of Clinton; children, LaVerne Wiese, Jr. of Clinton, Cindy Neal of Clinton, Anna (Edwin) Burmeister of Clinton, and Randall Wiese of Davenport, IA; Jack’s sons David Koop of Silverthorne, CO and Robert Koop; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren; and brothers Earl Huebner of Lakeview, AR and David Huebner of Clinton.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
