FULTON, Ill. —

Ilene Thompson, age 83, died at home Saturday September 22, 2012, following an extended illness.
Ilene was born on April 19, 1929, in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of Steve and Matilda (Hizer) Rachel. She married Ray L. Thompson in January of 1964.
She worked for Miracle Mart for seven years as a shoe department manager, the Spotless Spot and The Corral in Akron, Ohio. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend.
Survivors include one daughter, Debbie (Gerry) McDowell of Fulton; one son, Joe (Kathy) Fast of Akron, Ohio; two brothers, Robert (Rose) Rachel, Ronald (Judy) Rachel, both of Akron, Ohio; sister-in-law, Rosemary Rachel of Miss.; six grandchildren, Gerry (Amanda) McDowell, Luke (Sara) McDowell, Heather (Mike) Akins, Heide (Scott Trout) Fast, Holly (Pete) Carmichael and Dustin Fast; twelve great-grandchildren, Merik, Laynie, Dannika, Lillee, Austin, Paige, Anthony, Ethon, Nathon, Braylon, Jason and Jacob. Honorary daughter, Marlene Piatz of Clinton, Iowa; niece born on her birthday, Patty Rachel of Akron; best friend, Sue Brum of Akron. Many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Ronald Fast; three brothers, Al Rachel, Steve Rachel and Jim Rachel; one sister, Wanda (Rachel) Triss.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at the McDonald Funeral Home in Fulton with Reverend Dalmus Meeks of Harvest Time Bible Church, Rock Falls officiating. A gathering of family and friends is Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Private family burial at a later date.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to Mercy Hospice of Clinton, Iowa.
