Ruth O. Feddersen, 87, died in Clinton, Iowa, on August 8, 2013 under the care of Hospice at Mercy South.
A Memorial Service will be held on May 17th at 2:00 at the First United Presbyterian Church, Clinton, where she was a member.
Ruth was born on November 23, 1925, in Clinton, to Ernest and Christine (Dierksen) Seymour. She attended school in Clinton and graduated form Clinton High School in 1943. Joyful & meaningful times in her childhood were fishing and picnic outings with her parents.
As a proficient secretary, she was employed by the American Red Cross, Clinton, during WW II, and the Atomic Energy Commission, Ames, Iowa, 1949-1951.
On March 20, 1949, she married Phil H. Feddersen, of Clinton, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Clinton. They lived in Ames until Phil’s graduation in Architecture 1951. From there they lived in Dubuque, Midland, MI., & returned in Clinton.
After their two children were born, Frank 1953 and Paul 1957, she was devoted to being wife & mother.
Ruth was a gracious hostess & supportive of her husband’s work. With her circle of friends always growing larger, she was everyone’s cheerleader. Ruth was an active volunteer delivering Mobile Meals for 30 years, former Deaconess for her church, cooking & baking for church functions, friends & family. She was a member of Chapter JN, PEO, Sunoida Book club, and helped start the Mobile Meals program in Clinton.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 64 years, a sister-in-law, four nephews & their families, cousins and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sons. As per Ruth’s request, cremation rights were performed.
