Vernon C. Wagner, 84, of Clinton, IA, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton. Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2012, at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home on Saturday, January 19, 2013, from 11 a.m. until the service hour. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery.
Vernon was born September 3, 1928, on Beaver Island. He was the son of Clarence and Leone Kelsey. He was a 1946 Clinton High School graduate. Vernon married Veronica Fishburn on September 27, 1947, in Clinton.
Vernon was employed as the assistant plant superintendent and supervisor at Allied Structural Steel for over 37 years, retiring in 1984. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of Ducks Unlimited.
Survivors include his wife, Veronica; daughter, Kathleen (Bob) Simpson of Morrison, IL; sons, Michael (Robin) Wagner of Hannibal, MO, and Patrick Wagner of DeWitt, IA; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents and his sister.
