MORRISON, Ill. — Clarence Werner, 73, of Morrison, died Thursday, November 28, 2013, at his home.

The funeral will be 10:30 AM Monday, December 2, 2013 at Bethesda Lutheran Church, Morrison, with Pastor Bob Burton, Bethesda Lutheran Church, Morrison, officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Bethesda Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison. The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials can be made to Bethesda Lutheran Church, The American Cancer Society and Camp Courageous, Monticello.

He was born April 16, 1940 in Clinton to Herbert M. & Orpha (Bratthauer) Werner. Clarence was a 1958 graduate of Miles High School in Miles.

He married Joyce Bates on September 16, 1962 in Clinton. He later married Judy Nelson-Carlson on July 25, 1986 in Morrison.

Clarence began farming in Andover, Iowa, with this brother. He then moved with his family to Garden Plain, Ill., and worked at Bunge in Albany, Ill. After retiring in 2008, he continued farming in Morrison.

Clarence was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church. While in Garden Plain, he was active with the Albany Lions Club and volunteer fire department. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Loyal Order of Moose – Lodge 363, Clinton, and was a member at Lake Erie Country Club. Clarence was also a proud member of the “FS Coffee Clan” in Morrison in the mornings.

Clarence enjoyed farming, golfing and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed spending winters in Lake Havasu, Ariz., where he could continue golfing.

Survivors include his wife, Judy; a daughter, Norine (Jeff) Werner-Silton of Newton, Mass.; six sons, Jerry Carlson of Bushnell, Ill.; Gary (Greg Byers) Carlson of Evanston, Ill.; Steven (Melissa) Werner of Fulton, Ill.; Phillip (Jennifer) Carlson of Rock Falls, Ill.; Mark (Christine) Werner of Fulton and Nels Carlson of Hooppole, Ill.; five grandchildren, Rachal and Blake Werner, David Spooner, Audra Bender and Nelson Carlson; a great-grandchild, Isabella Spooner; three sisters, Vera Yadoff of Camanche, Ramona Von Sprecken of Maquoketa, and Irene Nielsen of Clinton; and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joyce (Paul) Aller of Moline, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Hazel Nelson; a grandson, Cameron Bender; a sister, Marian Werner; three brothers, Lloyd, Herbert and Eldon Werner; a sister-in-law, Doris Werner; and four brothers-in-law, Eldon Yadoff, Glen Von Sprecken, Norman Nielsen and. Vernon Nelson
