Raymond (Ray) Roy Reusche

CLINTON — Raymond (Ray) Roy Reusche (Major, USAF, Ret) was born September 5, 1926 in Clinton, Iowa to Roy and Mae (Stehbens) Reusche and passed 12 July 2013.

Ray had two brothers Ken and Warren, both of whom preceded him in death. He graduated from high school in Lyons, Iowa (1944) and earned a BA from The University of Nebraska in 1964. Ray enlisted in the US Army Cadet Program in 1943, attended Pre-Cadet training at Coe College, graduating in 1945. He attended Bombsight and Autopilot School before being assigned as a B-29 and B-36 Bombsight Instructor. Ray was commissioned as a 2nd Lt in the US Air Force in 1949 and was transferred to the USAF Office of Special Investigations where he was a Criminal Investigator and Polygraph Examiner (Lie Detector) until his retirement as a Major in 1965. Following his retirement, he was the Assistant Chief of Security for Firestone Corporation until he reentered Federal Service in 1966. While in federal service he was Chief of Investigations for the Office of Economic Opportunity and Regional Inspector General for the Department of Housing and Urban Development. In 1979, Ray received a Presidential Appointment as the Assistant Inspector General for the Small Business Administration and retired in Senior Executive Service, level IV, in 1983. Ray was a member of the Association of Former Intelligence Officers, the Retired Officers Association, and the AF Office of Special Investigations Special Agents. He was a 32nd Degree Mason. Ray was an avid golfer and bridge player! He loved taking cruises, international travel and gourmet dining.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Norma Jean, two sons and their wives, Michael & Cathy Reusche of Aiken, SC and Randall & Anne Reusche of Chamblee GA. He is also survived by two grandsons, Jeffery Raymond Reusche of Athens, GA and Andrew & Jacqueline Reusche of Cumming GA. Ray Reusche will be interred at the Georgia National Cemetery, Canton Georgia with military honors at date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the United Service Organization (USO) in Raymond Reusche’s name.
