DEWITT — Paul John Hinck, 85, of DeWitt, Iowa, died Friday afternoon, January 24, 2014, at Westwing Place, DeWitt.

Paul was born December 5, 1928, to Reverend Theodore and Theodora (Berger) Hinck, in Marshalltown, Iowa.

Following graduation from DeWitt High School in 1946, he worked for W.C. Anderson Shorthorn Cattle in West Liberty, Iowa. Paul served in the Army during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Joan Schmidt on November 7, 1954, at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt, Iowa, by his father, Rev. Theodore Hinck.

Paul worked at Central Steel of Camanche, and farmed in Clinton County for 50 years.

Paul was a member of Risen Christ Lutheran Church, Davenport, the Clinton Co. Farm Bureau, Clinton Co. Fair Board, Clinton Co. Pork Producers, Clinton Co. Cattlemen Association, and the Eugene McManus American Legion Post #238. He enjoyed his church, raising livestock, and sports.

Paul is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joan; 3 daughters, Sandra (Loren) Wuebker of Rockwell City, Iowa, Nancy Schneckloth of DeWitt, Judy Hinck of Belleville, Illinois; grandchildren, Reggie (Sarah) Voyles, Ryan (Leann) Voyles, Renee, Greg, and Abby Schneckloth; great-grandchildren, William, Colten, and Landon Voyles; 5 step-grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Joel (Maxine) Hinck of DeWitt, and John (Trudy) Hinck of Park Ridge, Illinois; a sister Vicki (Allen) Nauss of Orange, California; two step-sisters, Jeanne (Lauren) Hansen of Grand Mound, and Karalee (Steve) Ongert of South Bend, Indiana; nieces and nephews; mother-in-law Helen Schmidt of DeWitt; and special family friend Raymond Cook of Grand Mound.

He was preceded in death by sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Bob Stoll, and Cordy and Mel Deter; a son-in-law, Maurice Voyles; and brother-in-law, Robert Schmidt.

The family will receive visitors from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 27, 2014, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, Iowa. A service of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at Risen Christ Lutheran Church, 6021 Northwest Blvd. Davenport, Iowa. Pastor Kurt Larson will officiate. Burial and military rites will be at Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt.
