Ronald Lee Christiansen

DELMAR — Ronald Lee Christiansen, 62 of rural Delmar died Friday, May 3rd, 2013 at his home.
A remembrance service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7th at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lost Nation. Burial will be in the Elwood Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call on Monday at the Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa from 3 to 7 p.m., or one hour before service time Tuesday at the church in Lost Nation.
Ronald was born in Maquoketa on June 22nd, 1950 to Norbert and Erna (Brackett) Christiansen. Ron was a graduate of Delwood High School in the class of ‘68. He also received a Civil Engineering degree from Iowa State University in Ames, and worked in earlier years in Minnesota as a licensed Civil Engineer. He farmed in the Elwood area and had started the Wood Barn and was known for his woodworking.
He liked to fish and hunt. Ron always looked forward to his annual fishing trips to Wisconsin with his family. His passion for woodworking started as a young child, and continued all his life.
Ron is survived by his wife, Darlene; their children: Chad and wife Sally of Delmar, and Kristine and husband Ed Huenemann of Lamoni, Iowa. One brother Paul Christiansen of Maquoketa and 5 grandchildren: Emily and Charlie Horst, Riley and Katie Christiansen, and Natalie Huenemann. One sister in law, Delores Wilson of Urbandale, Iowa. He was especially fond of his dog “ Jazzy.”
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Erna Christiansen, his sister-in-law, Margo Christiansen on Dec. 28th, 2012.
Memorials may be given to Hospice of Jackson County, Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lost Nation or the First United Methodist Church in Maquoketa.
