CLINTON — Yvonne Holden Geck, of Clinton, passed away May 5, 2013.
She was born May 17, 1920 to William and Culotta (Powers) Holden in Indianapolis, Indiana. She graduated from Purdue University and after her marriage to Donald Geck in 1942 lived for 66 years in University Heights, OH.
She was member of Gesu Church, a lifelong member of Alpha Chi Omega and was active in The College Club. She excelled at flower arranging, was an ice skater well into her 70s, and was a realtor with W.I. White and Smythe Cramer. She volunteered for Goodwill Industries , serving as the board treasurer for many years and tutored elementary students in Cleveland schools.
In 2008, she moved to Clinton, IA where she was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, Tri-S, and enjoyed playing duplicate bridge.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, after 60 years of marriage. She is survived by daughters Carol (Gene) Machael of Clinton IA, Marilyn Guenther of Hartland, WI, Cathy (Lane) Fukunaga of Kailua, HI. and son, Terry (Pascale) Geck of Galloway, NJ, 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
The family will greet friends, Tuesday, May 7, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. A funeral Mass will take place May 17 at Gesu Church in University Heights, OH , with private burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gesu Church or Beaumont School in the Cleveland area or Prince of Peace Catholic Church or Mercy Hospice in the Clinton area.
