CCC instructor proud of students, enjoys employment

Gina Bielski

Happy Community College month, Clinton, Iowa! What an exciting time it is to be part of the community college movement!

Clinton Community College not only employs me, but it employs my husband as well. I guess you might say it is a “family affair.” I serve the college as a Public Speaking and Introduction to Film faculty member as well as Communication Department Coordinator. My husband serves the college as a Transition Advisor. Many people might think it would be difficult to work at the same institution as their spouse, but we both feel so blessed to be a part of such a student-centered environment.

The impact that CCC has had on our lives is tough to measure. We both get to love what we do, love the people we work with, and share in the success of our students on a daily basis. I’m not sure how it could get much better than that! The administration, faculty, and staff at CCC are diligently working toward student satisfaction and success. It is such an honor to be a part of Clinton Community College’s mission.

I really enjoy our students, and it is such a pleasure to work with them in and out of the classroom. Teaching is my passion, and CCC has given me a home to do that. My hope is that my students are able to grow both personally and professionally in the classroom experiences they are provided. I also serve the college as a Phi Theta Kappa adviser, and have the privilege of working with our students in community service projects, leadership conferences, scholarship and fellowship activities. I get to see how hard they work, how much fun they have, and how dedicated they are to their academic career as well as extra-curricular activities.

The opportunities for graduates of Clinton Community College are endless. There is nothing more rewarding than hearing success stories from past students who are currently attending a four year college or university, or have a moved on to great jobs in the community.

In honor of Community College Month, many of my students created six-word stories based on their life experiences and educational experiences at Clinton Community College. I was so impressed and inspired by their words, and would like to write one of my own for them. “Clinton Community College students: thank you!”
