‘Granting the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy” is the mission of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.Tonight that mission will be celebrated by the Make-A-Wish Clinton County Committee, which will host its annual gala, this year under the theme of Puttin’ on the Glitz. It’s been 25 years since the establishment of the Clinton County Committee, which came into being after Barb Jacobsen of Clinton saw a piece about it on TV. Her husband’s co-worker had a son who was ill, and after seeing the broadcast about Make-A-Wish, Jacobsen was moved to call the state office and arrangements were made to create the local committee.Today there are 69 local members who work together to raise funds and help grant wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses, The Clinton Committee is able to assist with between six and 10 wishes per year. Tonight’s event includes live and silent auctions as well as dinner and dancing in an effort to keep making that happen. Congratulations to our local volunteers for their 25 years of dedication.
