Once again, renovations at the Operahouse theater in DeWitt are in the news, this time after the project secured some $285,000 in grant funding in a single day, $150,000 from the Clinton County Community Development Association and $135,000 from a Vision Iowa Community Attractions and Tourism grant.

The Operahouse is a key part of downtown DeWitt. The people who manage the facility appear to have a keen eye on what improvements are needed to maintain its viability. The end result is something the entire community can be proud of.

The collection of these funds shows it’s not just people in DeWitt who think the project has true merit, and we salute the organizers for their perseverance. The reward should be well worth the effort.
