The Miss Clinton County Scholarship Program Board met Tuesday to discuss the future of our program. Traditionally, The Miss Clinton County Pageant has been held as a prelude to Clinton Riverboat Days.

This year, our pageant has been postponed until Aug. 11 due to a lack of participation. The Miss Clinton County program is the longest running scholarship program in Iowa providing scholarships to all contestants. The pageant is a stepping stone in the Miss America Program, which last year alone gave more than $45 million in scholarships.

We are hoping that young ladies in the Clinton area will read this and take advantage of the incredible opportunities the Miss Clinton County program provides in time for the June 30 sign-up deadline. We also are asking for support from the community so we can continue this wonderful program.

The simplest way to show support is by coming to the pageant. All ticket sales go directly towards scholarships for these talented young ladies. For those who can do more, we are always in need of scholarship awards and prizes for contestants.

We are so proud of our current titleholders: Miss Clinton County Alisa White, Teen Miss Ashley Herrington, Junior Miss Alexandria Necker and Little Miss Savannah Necker. Please help us to continue this rich, time-honored tradition.
