Every year since 2002, the Clinton Herald has published a special section in September known as Hometown Heroes as a way of honoring our local police, fire and rescue personnel. This year, instead of printing a section, we are going to publish special pages in the Herald, two a week, that focus on departments in the area. The first such page will feature the Clinton Fire Department on Saturday.

This is an exciting project because it is a way of honoring those who work so hard each day to keep our communities safe. It also is a way for local residents to get to know the faces of those who serve and protect and help preserve life and property. So far, we have enough departments to feature through the middle of October.

Area departments were sent a letter asking them to participate by turning in photos of their personnel. There’s still time to get involved. If your department would like to be featured in the Herald, call Charlene Bielema at 242-7142, ext. 155. We’re hoping that everyone gets involved so that we can pay tribute to the many men and women who serve each day.
