Remember Veteran’s Day on Saturday, Nov. 11. From military cemeteries in France, the Pacific and United States, freedoms have cost the lives of young men and women. When you see a veteran, thank them for what they have done for our freedom.

If you have an old or worn out flag you may drop them off at the AMVETS Post 28 located at 1317 S. 17th St. A drop-off box is located at the front door of the post. Flags can also be dropped off at my office located at 1900 N. 3rd St. On Veteran’s Day at dusk, members of the AMVETS Honor Guard will conduct a ceremony to have a dignified disposal of unserviceable American flags. All Post members, veterans, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and members of the community are invited to attend. The Post will have a lunch after the ceremony.

Volunteer van drivers are needed to drive veterans to the Iowa City VA and Bettendorf clinic. If you would like to volunteer or for more information contact me at 242-1151.
