Fellowship club is a needed facility

There’s a very special place where residents and their families can go when coping with recovery issues. It is the Clinton Fellowship Club, at 1010 S. Fourth St., and it is an example of self-sufficiency at its finest.

The club is a place where people from all walks of life or their loved ones can go when addiction, alcoholism, coexisting mental disorders or codependent issues are being dealt with in the family unit.

It also is unique in the number of programs that are provided — Narcotics Anonymous, Association of Recovering Motorcyclists and Overcomers in Christ to name a few — and that it provides something for the entire family.

There is an Al-Anon group as well as Ala-Teen and Ala-Tot — all three groups are dedicated to the education and support for spouses and children of the chemically dependent. But it’s not all serious.

There is a dance floor, light system, high-tech sound system, foos ball table, pool tables, electronic dart boards and gift shop area.

And then there’s the work that has gone into it.

Many members have volunteered their time and spent their own money to remodel the club.

We commend the fellowship club members’ participation and their work and wish them well as they continue the journey toward recovery.
