‘Taste’ is part of a fine leadership

In 2002, the Leadership Institute of the Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce conducted a campaign called “Take a New View.”

Aimed at promoting the good things in the Gateway area, a facet of the community was regularly featured in the Clinton Herald.

The next year, the Leadership Institute hosted the “What We’re Made Of” trade show to showcase the good things going on here. Another showcase, “River Cities — There’s No Place Like Home,” followed.

This year, the idea will be utilized again with the Taste of Gateway that will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 14 at Alliant Energy Field. The Taste of the Gateway is a chance for the community to showcase food, activities and people who make the Gateway area a great place to live, work and visit.

The Taste will gather many local restaurants at one venue to allow people to get a “taste” of the various cuisines in the Gateway area. With all the restaurants in one area, people will be able to sample small portions of food from many different restaurants. While individuals are sampling food, there will be activities for adults and children as well as entertainment throughout the day.

Admission to the Taste of the Gateway will be free and food tickets will be sold at the gate for all food and beverage purchases. Anyone attending the Taste will receive free admission to that night’s LumberKings game.

This is a great way to get to know this community or to once again be reminded about what is here — at home.
