Celebrate National Library Week

How well do you know your library? Next week is a good time to find out. Sunday marks the start of National Library Week and there are many events planned to get you involved at the Clinton Public Library.
To kick it off, Monday will feature a day to get carded. If you sign up for a first-time library card on that day, your name will be entered in a drawing for a prize.
On Tuesday “Hollywood Cowboys” will be presented and will highlight the glory days of the Western movies. It will begin at 7 p.m. on the second floor and admission is free.
Wednesday is Patron Appreciation Day. As a thank you to patrons, the library will have balloons for children and bookmarks for adults. Free popcorn will be given to everyone before they leave.
Thursday is Teen Karaoke Round-Up from 6 to 8 p.m. on the second floor. Refreshments will be served and reservations must be made. Teens can sign up at the front desk throughout the day for a special drawing for a prize.
Friday will feature the Internet Cafe. Join the library workers in the Root Cellar for an Internet session or genealogical research and stay for some refreshments from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Saturday features Food for Fines. Bring a canned, boxed or bagged food item to the front desk and have $1 in fines erased from your record for each item of food up to $5. Food will be donated to a local food pantry.
That’s a lot of ways to get involved with our local library, get to know the staff members and see what is offered.
One of the best resources a community has to offer is its library. We’re hoping those who use our library celebrate next week and those who have yet to go there will do so.
