Thanks to those who serve on school boards

It’s not easy being a school board member. Your decisions impact students, staff members, district policy and taxpayer dollars — and because of the heavy subject matter — are closely scrutinized in the public eye.

It’s a job that carries a lot of weight and a lot of responsibility on a volunteer basis. At times it can be very tough, but the payoff is knowing you are working hard to make a school district a better place for students to learn.

This is the week to honor school board members for it is Iowa School Board Recognition Week.

Clinton School Board members were honored Monday night when they were each presented with a plaque and recognized for serving as “local leaders working to help students succeed.”

We want to second that by saying thank you to those who serve.
