Pets are wonderful to have. They provide comfort, unconditional love and keep us company. In return, they need food, water, checkups, shelter and a return of the love they give.
Action taken by the Clinton City Council this week formally provides a place for dog owners to take their beloved pets to enhance their lives — a dog park.
The City Council approved a resolution earlier this week that allows for the official opening of a dog park at Eagle Point Park known as Prairie Pastures Dog Park.
It is located in the old zoo property across from the north playground at Eagle Point.
The site is being leased by the Eagle Point Nature Society from the city of Clinton and is managed and maintained by the society’s funding. There will be three points of membership: those bringing their dogs must be a member of the Eagle Point Nature Society; the dog must be current on its rabies shots; and Clinton residents’ animals are to be licensed through the city and animals from other cities are to have a valid rabies tag.
We know that a lot of planning has gone into making this dog park happen, and this group isn’t the first to try. We are happy to see it has come to fruition and now there is a place for dogs and their owners to spend some more time together.
