Good luck in your new job, Dave

Everybody goes through a life change from time to time. For Dave Frett, that change is in the form of a new job with the Human Resources Department at Mercy Medical Center in Clinton. And with that, Frett has departed the Gateway Area Chapter of the American Red Cross, where he was executive director for 81/2 years.

Dave has been great to work with. Obviously, when there is a disaster such as a fire or a flood, the media is drawn to the scene to cover events as they unfold. Whenever we had a question for him, Dave was quick to answer or get one for us.

He also was very proactive. When the storm season approached, he would send out releases that provided useful information about how to prepare. The same was true when it came to sharing good, common sense tips about how to prepare for a disaster. It's easy to think we are ready for such an event, then one of Dave's columns would arrive by e-mail and we'd learn how much there was still yet to do.

Dave has been a champion of the Red Cross mission to prepare residents and to get help to the scene when needed, to provide shelter for those without it, and to be a source of comfort to those who are dealing with a devastating situation.

He will be missed in his leadership role, just as surely as we know that he will be an asset to the hospital.

Good luck in your new role Dave, and we are thankful that you will continue to volunteer with the Red Cross. Your service is an example that stands out and will be remembered by many for years to come.
