Welcome back, councilmen

There’s a lot of changes on the horizon for the city of Clinton. But one thing didn’t really change as the result of Tuesday’s municipal elections — the makeup of the Clinton City Council. Out of four races, two incumbents were voted in, the current Ward 4 councilman was elected mayor and a former city councilman will fill the seat created by the new mayor’s step into that seat.

What that shows us is that Clinton’s voters want consistency on their council. With all the growth that Clinton is seeing and no doubt the growing pains that will come with it to get to the end result, one thing is for sure: Mayor-elect Rodger Holm, Councilmen Mike Kearney and Mark Vulich and newly elected Paul Gassman, who has served on the council before, already know the challenges faced by this city and the plans to move it forward.

So while change can be good — it is interesting that we had so many contested races when in years past that hasn’t been the case — so is knowing that this council is up to speed on the issues.

So welcome back to all the councilmen and to Mayor Holm as he assumes the gavel.
