Hate. By nature it is an ugly word. Each year, local residents show how much they wish to eradicate it from our daily lives.

For the eighth time, citizens of the Clinton and Camanche areas will take to the streets in a walk to draw attention to the danger of intolerance and the values of active nonviolence.

The annual Stop the Hate Walk is set for Thursday.

Walkers are invited to gather at Clinton Community College, 1000 Lincoln Blvd., at 5 p.m. A highlight of this year’s walk will be the participation of the Clinton High School Band percussion section, which will accompany walkers from CCC to Ashford University where closing activities will include a performance by the Ashford University Choir under the direction of Dr. Robert Engleson.

Won’t you get involved? Each voice adds much to the effort.
