Build replica of downtown theaters

The Clinton Herald

---- — The history of Clinton could be a great tourist draw and hopefully it will be in the future when the Wilson building opens up. In the 1940s, everyone was here to see the premiere movie of Lillian Russell’s life story at the Orpheum theater building. There used to be a newspaper in the Clinton Public Library of Clinton’s great historical event but the building and the former cinema and Capri theaters got torn down.

That building could have been used for the Lillian Russell Theater that now is in Riverview Park. I have a lot of memories in that building growing up in Clinton. As a kid, I saw Santa Claus there and watched the Three Stooges and other cartoons there.

Maybe private interests can make a replica of that building and build it on Main Avenue by the lumber museum.
