LETTER TO THE EDITOR: United Way is on target for goal

Clinton Herald

CLINTON — During our fourth campaign report meeting, the generosity of Individuals and businesses in our home communities was readily apparent. At an overall campaign status of 88 percent of goal, we are on target and close to reaching our hoped-for fiscal year 2014 funding.

To those who have played a role in achieving the results to date, I express heart-felt thanks.  I do this on behalf of the many, many neighbors who have been touched, all with personal stories of bettered lives due to your efforts and monetary support.

However, “close” still means there are honest needs which may not be fulfilled if our total goal is not achieved.  The impact of the remaining 12 percent cannot be overstated. Underfunding has a very personal feel to individuals who cannot be helped in crises or in less fortunate situations than many of us enjoy.

As we become more deeply immersed into the holiday season, our attentions often turn increasingly to the preparations and anticipations surrounding it. This can be a challenging time to strongly finish out our campaign. I know there are hearts out there who know the blessing not only in receiving support and encouragement, but even more so, in providing it. If you have been considering how you can make a positive impact on your community and the individuals within it, know that a contribution to United Way would be very well used and greatly appreciated.

God bless you and your families this holiday season and into the new year!

Steve Cahoy,

Fall 2013 Pacesetter Division Co-Chairman
