Letter to the Editor
Recently my family and I attended the Clinton Middle School’s performance of “The Wizard of Oz.”
It was a wonderful show! It was a great night out to enjoy being together and to see the extraordinary talent and efforts put forth by so many vibrant students. While we did not have any children participate from our family – we attended so we could enjoy a good show and support the kids.
I was awed by the sheer magnitude of such a production at the Middle School level – not to mention the number of students that participated on and off stage. I counted well over 100 participants. They worked for almost 5 months and it was apparent in the outcome; the acting, singing, crew, and set production were all fantastic. Kudos to all the kids, the directors (Ms. Wells, Ms. Rasche, Mrs. Radke and Mrs. Kerschner) and to the parents of the participants for providing transportation, treats, moral support and their time so that the students could produce a great show.
The middle school curtain rose two nights to sold-out performances ….Now you have another chance to see a great production when Clinton High School presents “Beauty and The Beast” on Feb. 28, March 1 – 2. You will not be disappointed.
I am a supporter of extracurricular activities at all levels of our children’s lives. I hope you as parents, grandparents and community members will be as well. Whether your passion or interest is sports, drama, music or academics – please support the students and the schools by attending the events. You will find the school calendar of events at www.clinton.k12.ia.us. Here are some options: District Orchestra Concert: Feb. 10, Middle School Band Concert: March 3, Jazz on the Hill: April 3. There are various sporting events almost every day. Please show the kids that we as a community believe in them.
