Letters to the Editor
I have heard nothing from Gov. Romney during the recent presidential debates that alleviate my concerns over his prescription for healthcare in America.
As a nurse and a granddaughter, I am concerned that Romney has no plan to strengthen and protect Medicare for seniors and is more focused on scare tactics than providing the truth. We do know he would “repeal the Affordable Care Act on Day 1.”
That promise alone would take away many benefits and protections the healthcare law has provided us with, including Medicare prescription drug discounts.
That single discount is delivering an average of $768 in savings to more than 5.4 million seniors today. Eventually, the “donut hole” will go away — saving seniors thousands of dollars annually in prescription costs.
As a nurse, I deal with the aging population everyday and have seen first hand the need to choose between taking their prescribed medications and paying their day to day bills. We must continue to fight to keep the Affordable Care from being repealed, and the first step towards that is voting on Nov. 6 to re-elect President Obama.
There is too much at stake for my patients and for the people of Iowa for me to support Governor Romney in this election.
Question about Obama
What a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.
Did our president say the attack was terrorist-caused before he said it was film-caused or not? Why was Ambassador Rice sent on five television shows saying it was film-caused?
Why did President Obama go on Letterman? Why did Secretary Clinton go on television? Why did the White House get angry with Fox News for saying it was a terrorist attack?
All after he supposedly said it was terrorist-caused in the Rose Garden. Does this make the slightest bit of sense?
Romney not truthful on jobs
Governor Romney says he will create jobs. We only have to look at what is happening in a car parts plant in Freeport, Ill., to see the type of jobs he will create.
Senata is a car parts plant of which Bain Capital is the majority owner. Although Mitt Romney left Bain, he continues to receive millions of dollars annually as Bain buys and restructures companies and lays off workers.
For once, Romney is telling the truth — he will create jobs. He just doesn’t tell voters that the jobs he will create will be in China.

Richard E. Stimmel,
Movie can’t have that impact
Mr. President, I will not trouble you with lengthy questions. But please Mr. President, I truly need your reason for insisting a 15 minute movie could cause Muslims to kill our people, and attempt more murders all over Muslim territory. I understand movies can have a lot of power and influence. During World War II at age 16, I remember watching the movie title “From the Halls of Montezuma to the Shores of Tripoli.” I immediately lied about my age and was sworn into the Marines.
But Mr. President, that movie lasted for a couple of hours, not a dinky 15 minutes.
Mr. President, are you lying to us? Don’t you realize that many of those Muslim folks really hate us just because?
Mr. President, are you a Muslim sympathizer? If it takes a movie to start murdering other humans, the one Hitler watched preceding the killing of 7 million of his own people must have ben an all-nighter.
