Clinton Labor Congress endorses candidates for Clinton City Council

The Clinton Herald

---- — The Clinton Labor Congress endorses the following candidates for the November 5th, 2013, Clinton City Council Election:3rd Ward: Clinton Labor Congress endorses Edward O’Neill. Mr. O’Neill has been a strong advocate for balancing the city budget while maintaining quality level of city services. At-Large: Clinton Labor Congress also endorses Jennifer Graf and Grant Wilke for the two At-Large seats up this Election Cycle. Jennifer Graf has stood up for workers in her previous service on the council, and we look forward to her continued efforts on our behalf. Her commitment to making Clinton a Green City is forward-thinking and just the kind of leadership we need.Grant Wilke has a long resume of public service, and the City of Clinton needs someone with his expertise with public safety and first responders on their team. We enthusiastically recommend his campaign for at-large city council. Where more than 70% of voters turned out for the Presidential Election, sometimes as few as 10-20% turnout for City Elections. We feel strongly at the Clinton Labor Congress that people should exercise their right to vote in every election, and that it is at the local election where your vote and your voice can be stronger. City officials determine when and where economic development occurs; whether it will be awarded to companies that pay a fair wage to their workers. City officials are responsible for making ours a livable community. They decide what sidewalk/sewer/road repairs get addressed, and what will be the working conditions for city workers. Therefore, it is incumbent upon Clinton residents to get involved so they may have a voice in those important local decisions. Your vote is your voice – please get out to vote on November 5th. Polls open 7AM-8PM. The polling places for the City of Clinton are as follows: 1st Ward: First United Methodist Church, 621 South 3rd Street 2nd Ward: Calvary Baptist Church, 1619 2nd Avenue South 3rd Ward: Ericksen Center, 1401 11th Avenue North 4th Ward: Church of the Open Door, 816 13th Avenue North
