Teachers, students celebrate CCC

The Clinton Herald

---- — The month of April is when community colleges celebrate. So this month Clinton Community College (CCC) is offering a variety of activities to showcase our students.

We have a Spring Fling Week at our Maquoketa Center, the Student Leadership Recognition Luncheon, High School Fine Arts Day, Priority Registration for our current students and new student registration begins for our fall semester.

CCC strives to deliver quality education and services at an affordable cost. If you are considering starting your education, we are here to serve you and meet your needs. Whether you are looking for a degree, want to upgrade your skills, learn a trade for the workplace or gain personal fulfillment with a class or two, look at your community college.

At CCC your success is our first commitment.

Administrators, teachers guide students

My name is Traci Handel. I am attending Clinton Community College studying Business Administration/Accounting. I am in my second year and it has been an amazing experience.

I am a non-traditional student and was very unsure about my decision to return to the classroom. I imagined being very intimidated and feared not fitting in.

Clinton Community College administrators and teachers have guided me every step of the way and gave me the confidence and tools I need to be successful. I am active in the Student Senate as treasurer and I was just inducted into Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

I work part-time, so my schooling will take a little longer than planned.

I am so thankful to CCC and grateful to be part of such a wonderful institution.

Traci Handel,

Proud to stay at home

My name is Vanessa and I am a proud freshman student at Clinton Community College.

I go to CCC because it is in my hometown and is affordable. I enjoy how there are small classes and the campus is small. I am currently involved in PTK and student senate.

I think going to a community college is the best for anyone before going to a university.

Vanessa Cannon,

Learning while participating in work study

Hi, my name is Katie McLaughlin. I’m currently attending Clinton Community College to get my Associates in Fine Arts.

I’m also a work study in the registrar’s office and a member of the Fine Arts Club. I’ve enjoyed being so involved and helping to organize things like the Writer’s Jam and Student Art Exhibit.

It’s been a great experience and I’ve learned so much from my courses and from being so involved.

Katie McLaughlin,

Activities keep student busy

My name is Robbin (Rob) Wilson. I am a full time student at Clinton Community College. I’m an active Student Senate member and am helping out with athletics here on campus.

I transferred from Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College up there in Cloquet, Minn. I do have Pell grants and loans I took advantage of this spring, because I am not working at the moment so I can focus more on school and my grades.

What I like about Clinton Community College is how I got involved in the Student Senate and athletics. These keep me busy and I meet a lot of new people being involved in many activities. I plan on finishing up my Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice here at Clinton Community College as well.

I am proud to be a student at Clinton Community College.

Rob Wilson,
