Clinton needs to ban the owners, not the dogs

To those of you who are pro breed bans: Should we ban a specific sex, ethnicity or even an appearance choice such as clothing choice of a person because that group happens to be statistically more violent?

Absolutely not! So why would you want to ban a certain breed of dog? it takes a bad owner to produce a bad dog.

Unfortunately horrible people use (mainly) pit bulls for dog fighting which can certainly lead to a human bite. Others starve, beat and abuse their dogs which can, again, lead to an aggressive dog. It is rare for a dog to be mean for no reason. i

In the past, we used to hear how awful the rottweilers and dobermans were, yet never heard a word of the pit bulls.

Now it seems the other way around. Yes, something needs done to prevent large dog attacks, but a breed ban is not the answer. Tougher animal cruelty laws are.

We need to work on stopping the abuse and dog fights that ultimately can lead a confused dog into becoming aggressive against other animals and even people.

Many people in Clinton (and nationwide) own pitbulls.

If you were to talk to each of these owners, I can guarantee over all they would say they are wonderful family dogs.

Some would even go as far as to say the best breed they’ve adopted so far. I know I’ve heard this many times before. So before you discriminate against this wonderful breed, do your research first.
