Have questions about negotiating the Affordable Care Act exchanges so you can purchase health insurance? Stop at the library on Thursday, Dec. 5, any time between 2 to 4 p.m. to get your questions answered by Ellen Johnson of Community Health Care.
Christmas DIY at your library
As December opens, the library will host three DIY Christmas craft project classes. Please contact the library to register for one or more classes.
On Monday, Dec. 2, at 5:30 p.m. Colleen Hastings will lead a card making class at the main branch of the library. We’ll be making Christmas cards.
Join us on Monday, Dec. 9, at 6 p.m. to create some glittery do-it-yourself Christmas ornaments. The ornament craft class will be held at the main library and class size is limited to twelve.
Finally, make some unique gift tags for your Christmas presents on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 10 a.m. at the Lyons branch. Colleen Hastings will return to share additional card making ideas with us.
Mother/Daughter Book Club
Moms, ever wanted to be in a book group with your daughter? Now you can. The library is starting a book group for children ages 7 through 12 and their moms. Our first book will be a book from the Mom’s childhood: “Pippi Longstocking” by Astrid Lindgren.
Please sign up and get your book at the children’s desk at the Main Branch. The club will meet at the Lyons Branch Library on Wednesday, Dec. 11, at 6 p.m. to discuss the book and do fun activities.
Quad City Flutes Unlimited Quartet Holiday Concert
Visit the library for an evening of ethereal flute music on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 6:30 p.m. The concert features the talents of the Quad City Flutes Unlimited Quartet which was founded in 1983 by Janet Stodd, a flute instructor at Augustana College and Saint Ambrose University.
Library program is free and open to the public. The concert will be held at the main branch. All ages welcome.
