Easton Valley supporters promised us that taxes would stay low. It hasn’t even been a year and they are asking us to vote to increase property taxes this Tuesday.
The EV Board has been spending too much money and I do not want to be the person to pay for that mistake. The tax increase would gain the EV school board at least $200,000 out of our pockets and it will just make their out-of-control spending even worse.
They talked about keeping taxes low but if this passes, our property taxes will be higher than Bellevue’s and within one percent of Northeast. Both Northeast and Bellevue offer all regular classes to high school kids at their own buildings.
EV will still bus kids 20 miles to Maquoketa for class. Raising our taxes will leave us paying more in a district that will still offer less.
The vote will only be in Miles at the City Hall from noon to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4. If it passes our taxes will go up. Vote no.
