About 500 students vaccinated against swine flu in Poplarville
Dr. James M. Riser said on Wednesday that about 500 school students here were vaccinated on Monday and Tuesday by health care officials, and that an additional round of vaccinations is planned for Dec. 14 to give students here another chance to get the swine flu shot.
Hancock supervisors mull public hearing on proposed liquor store
Hancock supervisors on Wednesday told a group opposing the establishment of a packaged liquor store in the North Hancock County’s Bienville Community that they will set a public hearing on the issue, said Dawn Lee, one of the leaders of the group who attended the supervisors’ session.

City collecting fines, but revenue down
Collections of Municipal Court fines in the City of Picayune are up but tax revenues are down.
The increase in fine collections is attributed to the introduction of a city warrant officer and increased enforcement of the penalties for unpaid fines while the decrease in revenues is actually typical for this time of year.

Two suspects have been charged with the burglary of the Millcreek One Stop that took place on Nov. 12.
Bridges are being widened on I-59
Six bridge locations along Interstate 59 in Pearl River County are being widened.
Those six locations will involve the widening of 12 bridges. Workers are currently working on the bridge that goes across the Hobolochitto Creek between the Picayune exits.
Golf course owner tells school board fees must be reduced
One of the owners of the Pearl River Golf Club told school board members here on Monday that unless they reduced his 16th section land lease fees, he will go out of business. The golf club is located on 16th section school land.
