Pitching bolsters L’Kings

CLINTON — Boosted by another strong pitching performance, the Clinton LumberKings beat Wisconsin for the third consecutive night Saturday, 4-1, before the series finale was rained out Sunday at Alliant Energy Field.

Aaron Pribanic (2-0) allowed one run in 62⁄3 innings to record the victory. He became the third LumberKing starter to improve to 2-0 with an ERA at 1.50 or better.

His teammates gave him all the offense he needed in the third inning.

Maximo Mendez was hit by a pitch with one out. He stole second base — his first of three steals in the game — and scored on Denny Almonte’s single to center field. Luis Nunez followed with a single that moved Almonte to third base. Almonte scored and Nunez advanced to third on Scott Savastano’s single, then Nunez scored on Nate Tenbrink’s sacrifice fly.
