Sue Raaymakers, co-chairwoman of Clinton RAGBRAI XL, recently announced that the community is already coming together for the July 28 event.
Dipping tires in the Mississippi River in Clinton after riding across the state will be a highlight for this year’s bicyclists. Clinton Community College graphic art student Chad Kimmel, who designed the logo, using the theme chosen by the committee, “Where the Rubber Meets the River,” and John Bonte, a longtime RAGBRAI rider, will be in attendance at Fun After Five from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday on the lower patio of the Candlelight Inn in Clinton.
Also on hand will be many past, present and future riders. This will be a celebration of supporters in the community. There will be entertainment by Ron Tegeler and drinks and hors d’oeuvres from the kitchen at Candlelight Inn.
The T-shirts were printed in Clinton by Adcraft, which donated some of the volunteer T-shirts. Clinton Printing donated a poster of the logo. Chad Jensen, owner of the Bicycle Station, will create centerpieces for the tables.
Cathy Crosser said everyone in the community is invited to the event, “I want to be sure people know that the event will go on rain or shine and that it will be a lot of fun celebrating RAGBRAI coming to Clinton.”
After the event, T-shirts will be available at the Clinton Convention and Visitors Bureau, 721 S. Second St. The cost is $12 for youth sizes and adult small through extra large and $14 for 2X and 3X.
