Clinton band to march in Chicago

CLINTON —The Clinton High School Band is pleased to announce it has been invited to perform in the upcoming Chicago Thanksgiving Parade. The event will be televised on WQAD-TV, channel 8, starting at 9 a.m. Thursday.

According to CHS Band boosters president Sheryl Jindrich, the Royal River King and Queen Marching Band is one of several bands selected from dozens of applicants to perform in this event.

“The band was selected based on outstanding musical performance and visual impact and strength of community support,” she explained. “It was reviewed on significant performances, and evidence of strong administration, parental and civic support”

The parade will be seen by more than 350,000 street-side spectators and millions of television viewers across the country. Parade organizers at Chicago Festival Association already are touting what they say is one of the best line-ups of performing groups in the parade’s 74-year history, including appearances by the Kilgore College Rangerettes from Kilgore, Texas, the Top Hat Marching Orchestra from Burlington, Ontario, Canada, and the Budweiser Clydesdales, plus balloons from the Macy’s parade, as well as Disney characters.

“The … marching band will be an able ambassador representing our school and community,” Jindrich said.
