CLINTON — A threat found on a bathroom wall at Clinton High School this week has led to some tense moments at school.
Clinton School District Superintendent Randall Clegg confirmed Friday the threat was discovered Thursday and made a reference to next Monday. He said even if he did know the specifics of the threat he wouldn’t want them discussed because of the possibility of mimics.
He said police are investigating to determine who made the threat. He said receiving one is not usual and the district has a process it follows to get help to the person who makes the threat.
“If we find the person responsible, we have a psychological evaluation done,” he said.
But the goal is to head off such problems before threats appear.
“We make sure kids are connected in school,” he said. “We look at all the risk factors.”
That includes knowing a student’s run-ins with the law, and whether there has been any form of substance abuse or sexual abuse in the home.
“We’re looking at who might be a candidate,” for making such a threat, Clegg said.
He said he has heard some students don’t want to go to school Monday because of the threat.
His advice: “I’d say send your kids to school.”
