PERU, Neb. — The Ashford University women’s basketball team lost games to the College of Saint Mary and Peru State over the weekend.

The College of Saint Mary posted a 79-66 win over the Saints Friday night in Omaha.

Jenny Bridge scored 23 points to lead the winners, who improved to 1-1.

Lindsey Miller of Ashford scored a game-high 24 points and Erin Bohms tallied 19.

The Flames out-rebounded Ashford 30-29. Miller led Ashford on the boards with seven.

On Saturday, Keri Ann Shimerdla scored a game-high 20 points with the aid of six 3-pointers to lead Peru State past the Saints 90-64.

Miller led the Saints again with 19 points, while Bohms had 15 and Bethany Mahmens 14.

Miller also had eight rebounds and Melissa Zavada came up with two blocks.

Ashford, 0-2 on the season, hosts Trinity International University on Tuesday. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
