CLINTON — Clinton hosted Davenport Central in bowling on Senior Night on Monday.

Ten seniors were honored before the meet. The River Kings then beat the Blue Devils in a close contest 2,057-2,008, while the River Queens lost to Central 1,882-1,770. The Central girls have lost only to Muscatine this season.

The top bowler for the River Kings was Carter Hudson with a 445 individual total, although teammates Stephen Corbin (430), Conner Hyde (429) and Kyle Otto (422) weren’t far behind. The girls were led by Tannah Whitaker with 437.

Hudson said he thought they were overlooking Davenport Central after their Game Two scores.

“Some seniors struggled throughout the day, but the team got the win,” he said.

Rachel Heimbaugh said she thought the River Queens bowled well against a very good Central team. The River Queens will look to rebound at the Clinton Invitational on Saturday.

Coach Mark Richardson was happy with the team results but said the teams need to refocus.

“The seniors did very well tonight, and I’m excited to see how we do in the Clinton High School Bowling Tournament this weekend,” he said.

Clinton will bowl in the afternoon session Saturday. The River Queens and Kings will host their tournament with more than 40 teams participating throughout the day at Plaza Bowl.
