BETTENDORF — Clinton got off to a good start before stormy weather forced the suspension of its girls tennis meet Thursday at Bettendorf.

The meet will be completed at a later date.

The Queens won the only match that was completed and led three others.

“We’re kind of excited (to continue) because we’re looking all right,” Clinton Coach Cindy Rasche said. “Bettendorf is always good.”

Avan Colah moved into the No. 6 spot in singles with No. 3 player Riley Hubbart missing, and she defeated Emma Sunderman 6-0, 6-0 in the only match that ended before the conditions turned bad.

The River Queens return to Bettendorf on Saturday to play Iowa City West in the morning and Iowa City High in the afternoon at the middle-school courts. Bettendorf will play City High in the morning and West in the afternoon.
