Second-half goals sink River Kings

DAVENPORT — After a scoreless first half, Davenport North came out strong in the second half and defeated Clinton 4-1 on Tuesday in Mississippi Athletic Conference boys soccer.

North has won four in a row to improve to 4-8 and is 2-2 in the MAC. Clinton dropped to 1-7, 1-3.

Sabers edged

DYERSVILLE — Dyersville Beckman, the No. 1-ranked boys team in Class 1A, handed Central DeWitt its first loss of the season Tuesday, beating the Sabers 3-2 in WaMaC Conference action.

Jacob Grover, Billy Hoffman and Dillon Keegan scored goals for the Trailblazers (5-0).

Central DeWitt, ranked third in Class 2A by the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association, dropped to 9-1.

DeWitt girls win

DEWITT — Freshman Sydney Small scored the game’s lone goal in overtime to send Central DeWitt past Dyersville Beckman 1-0 in girls soccer.

Senior Abigail Grau stopped all three shots she faced in goal for the Sabers, who improved to 7-0.

Rebels girls win

MONTICELLO — Northeast picked up its second win of the season Tuesday by beating Monticello 1-0 in girls soccer.

Stephanie Delarm scored the game’s only goal, assisted by Cara Soenksen. Haley Beilenberg recorded her first shutout of the season in goal and made a key save with five minutes remaining, according to Coach Matt Kepple.

Northeast (2-4) enjoyed a 14-5 advantage in shots.

The Rebels host Cedar Valley Christian, West Liberty and Monticello this Saturday at the Northeast tournament.
