PORT BYRON, Ill. -- Two school records fell Friday as the West Carroll girls track and field team placed sixth out of 12 teams at the Riverdale Invitational.
The Thunder took fifth in the boys meet.
Courtney Boyer broke her own 100-meter high hurdle record and ran with Erica Walls, Allison Barr and Hayley Guilinger to set the record in the 800 relay. Boyer placed second in the hurdles in 16.64 seconds, while the relay team finished fourth in 1:53.52.
West Carroll also earned a pair of thirds in the girls meet, which was won by Annawan/Wethersfield (163 points).
Hailey Barsema took third in the 800, running a personal record of 2:40.86, and the 400 relay unit of Walls, Guilinger, Allison Brunner and Hayley Ballard was third in 53.99.
Barsema added a fourth-place finish in the 1,600 (6:09.40, also a PR), Boyer was fourth in the 300 hurdles (50.93) and Jessica Barr placed fourth with a PR in the 400 (68.77).
The Thunder also got fifths from Allison Barr in the long jump (13 feet, 11.5 inches), the 3,200 relay unit (12:08.43), Kali Hunter in the 3,200 (13:52.81) and the 1,600 relay (4:41.78).
West Carroll’s boys team finished with 23 points, three ahead of Morrison. ROWVA won with 154.
Hunter Luke led the Thunder with fourth-place finishes in the 800 (2:14.06) and the 1,600 (4:57.88), both PRs. West Carroll also took fourth in the 800 relay (1:41.16), and Daniel Hartman and Brandon Bumphrey went 4-5 in the 3,200.
West Carroll also earned fifths in the 3,200 relay (9:21.56), 400 relay (47.42) and from Jacob Casey in the 110 hurdles (18.15).
